Butterflies Are Flying In
This week's entry will be short and sweet - although I had a week off from estate sale packages, circumstances did not permit me to accomplish as much as I hoped. Things are not 100% complete but overall are in good shape for the pop-up sale. Most all of the jewelry is laid out, I still have the budget-friendly costume jewelry and our jewelry to set up. It was a good call to eliminate the breezeway and keep things simple this time. Next year if a pop-up sale makes sense I will open it up again.
I also need to finish pricing the remainder of the clothing, get the double rolling rack out of the shed and go to HomeGoods to get some new hangers. I should be able to complete this all on Monday. Do not sleep on the clothing, it is brand new, great quality, adorable and while it is not thrift store pricing, it is discounted up to half off original retail. This Easel shirt is a perfect Fall transition. I decided not to post any more clothing online until after the pop-up sale as I will be offering it all for sale there.
Sunday evening I went through a large tub of items in the garage which were put in Mother's furnace room during the moving sale setup and were not found until the night before the house closing. There was a binder with all of the information about Mother's kitchen remodel, I will either drop it off at the house or take the papers out of the binder and mail them to the new owner. There is a pile of items to go to Rachel and the remaining pile I will take to AZ and combine with the rest of the family photos etc. that are already there. I am going to donate the picture frames. Next step is to decide what to do with the personalized McAlpin and Apple Annie Awnings signs. Besides Mother, I am the only McAlpin left but I do not want to display them anywhere.
I completed posting my 25 new monthly items through Vendoo by continuing with the fabulous capsule collection of new Navajo-made jewelry. I posted two pairs of earrings, a cross pendant, two butterfly pendants, three money clips including one with turquoise, two cowboy boot keychains, three amber rings and a Kingman turquoise heart ring. Except for the money clips and keychains, the pieces were all made by talented artists Dean Sandoval and Rosella Paxton. I have eight more rings by these artists to post to complete the collection and will receive a fresh set of 25 items from Vendoo next Thursday. With the pop-up sale next weekend I am not sure if I will be able to get to new items but I did shoot all the photos so there is a possibility. There are three incredible natural Royston turquoise rings by Dean Sandoval, including the one above and four Purple Mojave butterfly rings, two by each artist. I always go crazy with the butterflies but I am not the only one who loves them!
I accepted a reasonable offer through eBay on this beautiful Navajo watch cuff bracelet. I also sold the tiniest item in my inventory, this adorable Zuni pendant on Facebook Marketplace. When I showed it to Kuochun, he turned it on its side and said it looks like the NBC peacock!
Monday was house cleaning day so I packed up the latest round of jewelry which needed polishing along with the big box of Native American goodies to take to Motel 6. However, I was able to take advantage of a cancellation and reschedule my dental appointment for that morning. I will be so glad not to have to go at 7:00 AM on Friday of the pop-up sale weekend. Kuochun decided to take the girls and all drive to Park Ridge and wait for me. I was very happy to receive an excellent report after a sketchy time this past year, both in AZ and here. A word of advice - in general natural toothpaste is not good for oral health. I have been trying hard to only use non-toxic personal care products, avoid inflammatory seed oils, artificial and "natural" flavors and colors etc. but found that natural toothpaste was putting my oral health in decline. It took a year of 3-month cleanings (instead of the 6-month cleanings I have had my entire life) and switching back to Colgate Total that got things back in shape. I do have a cleaning scheduled in AZ in December which I have already paid for so my plan is to go for that cleaning, then back to Park Ridge in June. I follow Paleovalley and take some of their supplements and the owner recently recommended an effective natural toothpaste. She said that the other natural toothpastes contain glycerin which just coats the teeth and destroys the oral microbiome. I am not sure that I will take a chance on another natural toothpaste but the Hello toothpaste I was using does have glycerin.
We did not spend as much time at Motel 6 but I was still able to polish one bag of new arrival sterling jewelry, mostly rings. I priced and put the rings right into the jewelry caravan this past weekend. I also went through the box of new arrivals and I have my work cut out for me! It is an amazing collection and I look forward to sharing it in the weeks to come.
Hope to see those of you who are local at the pop-up sale, there will be bargains galore!
