Fall Vintage Shop Hop
For the past several years, we have been participating in Vintage Shop Hop the first weekend of March. Vintage Shop Hop is an event which brings together over 500 antique stores, vintage shops and boutiques all over northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, encouraging customers to go out and shop at a time of year which is typically slower for brick and mortar store traffic. Customers can plan their own shopping route based on their location and interests and the shop owners offer a special discount or giveaway for the Vintage Shop Hop days. It's definitely a fun activity to get a group of friends and/or family together and hit the road. If I wasn't participating, I'd be out shopping!
As a vintage pop-up shop, we qualify to be a part of this fabulous event. All of the shopping locations are posted on a map which is divided into geographical sections. We are at the very southern end of the US Highway 14 Strip & NW Suburbs section. The area ranges from Crystal Lake to Mount Prospect. A trip I'd suggest in our area is to go from Mount Prospect to Barrington, keeping it within about a half-hour drive to maximize shopping time. There are cute places to stop for lunch along the way as well.
This past week, it was announced that a second Vintage Shop Hop event will be added in the Fall. I'm really excited about this new addition - it's my favorite time of year, the weather is always delightful and I remember this because my birthday is right after the event dates. I recommend liking the Vintage Shop Hop Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VintageShopHopEvent/ to keep up with all the developments. The owner of the page works very hard to promote Vintage Shop Hop and keep it filled with content. More than 28,000 people like this page! It's fun to watch the number of participating shops grow as the event dates approach. The blog at https://vintageshophop.blogspot.com has a list of all the shops organized by section as well as access to a Google Map for interactive shopping. Next time we will get more back to the heart of what we do which is jewelry but there will always be other goodies in store such as vintage furniture, home decor, handmade items using vintage materials and more. The jewelry that has been coming in lately is honestly incredible! There are amazing vintage costume jewelry pieces as well as vintage sterling silver representing several Native American tribes and Mexico. We will also have Tucson Gem Show finds from Thailand, Tibet, Mexico and Native American pieces from Arizona and New Mexico. We are looking forward to the Fall Vintage Shop Hop and having everything ready for your holiday shopping and event needs.
