Family Fun

The last of our July events was yesterday, Rachel's 50th celebration. It was a classic summer day and a great mix of dear friends and family were in attendance at Mother's home in Arlington Heights. The sun room was a nice place to light the candles and sing Happy Birthday. Both Mother and Rachel adore cherries, they think they are vintage cute so there was no doubt the party would have a cherries theme. Rachel made a cherry print dress for the occasion and her boyfriend John is wearing his pink cherry print shirt to show his support for the cherry cause. My cousin Jenifer and her two adorable daughters Claire and Lilah are in the background. The birthday cake was a Black Forest cherry torte from Central Continental Bakery in Mount Prospect which is located down the street from my home. I picked up the cake as well as cute little buttercrust buns from Cumberland Bakery which is a stone's throw from my home as well. They were perfect for the two kinds of sandwiches which were served, Honey Baked Ham and cream cheese and olive. We are blessed to have two awesome bakeries so close to home!

My other contribution was to bring over a framed drawing which Rachel made when she was very young. Mother had our favorite drawings framed and hung up in our laundry room in Park Ridge growing up. We think this drawing is so hilarious in our family. It depicts both our parents in their big brass bed with Rachel in the middle. I am on the second floor! Well at least I'm still in the house!

Now, back to business. Plans for August include signing up for the fall Vintage Shop Hop which will be the first weekend in October and adding more great jewelry pieces to the online store. Also, the breezeway will be renovated in mid-September with the unveiling planned for Vintage Shop Hop weekend. I'm really excited about renovating this space and will share more details next week!
