Here And Gone
It was a very challenging week both personally and on the estate sale front but I was still able to rise above and do some work on the online store. I posted several of the new arrival Native American pieces including this cuff bracelet which came with an interesting story. I do not have my reference books with me but do use one particular website to identify artists and it really came through for me this time! At first glance, I would have thought that this cuff was from the 1990s but with research I was able to determine that it is from the 1960s. The artist is Allen Kee, who worked for a shop named The White Hogan in Scottsdale in the 1950s and 1960s. Mr. Kee, along with two of his brothers and their cousin, pioneered the style of modern Navajo jewelry. When I searched for Mr. Kee's work, I found a couple of Japanese websites with prices in their currency. I did not do the conversion but posted my cuff with a fair price and within the span of less than an hour, it sold on eBay to a buyer in Japan! eBay makes international shipping so easy - all I need to do is ship first class mail to the international hub which happens to be in Glendale Heights and they take care of all the rest. I am glad it went to a good home so quickly and it was interesting to learn a bit about what was happening in Old Town Scottsdale during the time period my home was built in 1964.
I launched the first four Blue B pieces on Sunday evening. There are two crew neck T-shirts, each with a Western theme and two round neck short sleeve shirts, each with ruffled and studded sleeves. The off white T-shirt has a graphic printed design of cowgirls which was inspired by a 1950s tablecloth and the apricot T-shirt has floral embroidery in a geranium color. The T-shirts run true to size and the short sleeve shirts are oversized. All are available in Small, Medium and Large, click on the photo to see them in the Boutique Clothing category on C'est La Brie's.
Because of the extra time it takes to set up the clothing, I have decided to shoot for four new pieces each week. I still have two cute sweatshirts from Blue B, this new arrival top from Easel and all of the Zenana clothing to post. The Easel top was not scheduled to be shipped until September 27 but it has already arrived! I look forward to wearing this one in the fall.
I also posted this single piece - an ombre corded crew sweatshirt by Moon Ryder in size 2X. The sweatshirt is new with tags and the color combination is called Eggnog / Toffee. Click on the photo for details. These sweatshirts are SO nice and this one is perfect for Fall! I have one in a sunset color combo but have not been able to wear it yet due to the weather being too warm in Scottsdale. Hopefully this winter!
Outside of the five pieces of clothing, I was only able to post eight pieces of jewelry this past week. However I did sell a pendant on Facebook, a couple of pairs of earrings on my website and a watch cuff bracelet and the Allen Kee cuff on eBay. I sold an Easel top on Poshmark as well. The plan is to keep it going as the holiday shopping season is fast approaching!
In the midst of all the chaos, Kuochun had the spur of the moment idea to go to Dell Rhea's Chicken Basket in Willowbrook on Labor Day, otherwise known to him as "South Side Chicken." We had not been there in a long time so we hit the road. It works out well because Kuochun prefers dark meat and I like white meat, so we each order a meal and swap the pieces for future meals. I really like the old-school salad bar with chicken dumpling soup so I opted for the dinner instead of the basket. The basket with salad bar added would have cost $7.00 more. I went in thinking I would go for the lunch buffet but it really looked wrecked when we got there. The room was really crowded at first and they seated us right next to the salad bar but we asked to move. By the time we left, the crowd was pretty well cleared out. This is the only time I normally order soda because they have Route 66 brand in bottles but I decided to save the calories this time. It was just as well - I am used to eating the smaller dinners from Metabolic Meals now so I really could not eat much after the soup and salad - just a half piece of chicken breast and a handful of fries. Next up will be to decide on a restaurant for my birthday dinner in a month! It is a little more challenging since Noodle Cafe is gone.
I am hoping life will go more smoothly next week and I will be able to make up for this past week. Check in with you then!
