Home Sweet Home

I had planned to continue relaying our experiences about our winter trip today but things have drastically changed in the State of Illinois since last week. As of 5:00 PM yesterday due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a stay at home order has been instituted in our state through Tuesday, April 7. This means that all non-essential trips outside the home are disallowed, we can only go to the grocery store, gas station, pharmacy and to medical care for ourselves and our pets. We can also exercise outdoors and walk the dog as long as we steer clear of others. As a result, I have suspended the estate sale business until further notice. My heart goes out to all of those who have contracted the virus and to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones. This is definitely uncharted territory and a very scary time. I am an optimistic person and really hope the virus can be put under control soon so no more lives are lost and the economy can get back on track.

I've always said to myself "If only I could stop time, I'd catch up with all the work I'd like to do at home and I'd be so happy." I never dreamed that this would come through under such sad circumstances. However, I will make the best of things and take this time to do exactly that. I still have three weeks of estate sale paperwork to complete and we are in the process of postponing our estate sale schedule but we really hope we will be able to accommodate our clients who are currently under contract once the stay at home order is lifted. Luckily most of them have not sold their homes yet and are not under a strict timeframe.

Along with the estate sale work, I plan to get as much jewelry polished, priced, in the display cases and ready to go out to the sales when we are able. Since we spent a lot of time on the costume jewelry two weeks ago leading up to our pop-up sale, I will turn my attention to the sterling silver jewelry for a while. I have so much incredible sterling that I'm looking forward to sharing with all of you including vintage to newer Native American and Mexican pieces. I have started with my Native American collection, following an organized process. First, I am posting small "purges" or lots of Native American jewelry to our Facebook page so you all may have first dibs. Then, I will post the pieces to six different Facebook groups that I belong to for lovers of Native American jewelry. The remaining pieces will then be posted to our website, eBay and Etsy. Because eBay and Etsy have additional fees, you may see that some of the pricing is more than our normal 50% off original prices. If you see anything that you would like to purchase, please let me know and I will adjust the price to 50% off original. I will include USPS first class shipping with delivery confirmation as well and give you a link to purchase from our website. I'm sure you have heard this many times before but it is more important than ever to support small businesses who are working so hard to make it through this shutdown. Below are photos of jewelry purges I have worked on this week. This is just the tip of the iceberg! Stay safe and I'll see you next week!
