It's A Hot One!

Yes, we are still in Scottsdale but are definitely planning to leave next week. The latest we have ever stayed here is June 10 and it is getting hot! I took the photo of the dashboard of my car this past Monday because I thought it was cute that the temperature was 101 degrees and the odometer was 11,111. I was also glad it was only 101 and not 111! A week later, I needed to run three errands - post office, UPS and the bank. UPS and the bank are very close to each other but the post office is about 6 minutes away. The temperature in the car dropped from 115 to 114 degrees as I got my phone out to take the photo of Kuochun's dashboard. The temperature never registered below 109 degrees during my excursion. However what they way about the dry heat is really true. While it is very hot, it is still tolerable although I would try not to run around in the middle of the day.

I was able to post ten more Federico items including six pairs of earrings, a belt buckle, cuff bracelet and two butterfly pins. I stopped for the week when I came to the enhancer pendant below. At first I was going to call it a man, but then I noticed the two round stones on either side of the head which kind of look like earrings so I thought for a moment it was supposed to be a lady. But when I look at it again, overall it looks more like a man. Maybe the round stones are supposed to be eyes. I have a little bit of time to think about it. I have this piece plus two pairs of chandelier earrings with love birds and green glass stones, one light and one dark and a huge dragonfly pin studded with stones, then I will have all of the Federico items posted except for the 2025 Tucson Gem Show finds.

Posting more items than I have been able to lately definitely helped sales, as I sold two pieces on eBay and four on Etsy. I was thrilled to sell the Lois Hill cuff bracelet and necklace to the same person, they coordinate very well. I posted the bracelet in 2023 and the necklace last year so it proves that with patience, eventually items will sell.

Unfortunately this week's sales do not include a Buffalo Dancer necklace that I sold for $800.00. I am super organized when it comes to the online store items but for some reason I cannot locate the necklace. I searched through everything I own four times. I had packed everything up several weeks ago when we thought we were returning to Mount Prospect so I have been working out of bags since then. The entire bag of Buffalo Dancer jewelry is missing. At least there were not too many pieces in there, just the necklace and 3 pairs of earrings. I have run out of ideas as to where to look for this bag and will have to give the buyer the bad news. It is possible that I can get another one from the artists, I will offer her this option to see if she is open to it.

No other news to report this week, we have only been going out when we have to like to the grocery store, post office or Costco. We are still in the busy season for estate sales - one more big weekend to go and then we will be slowing down for the near future. July 4 falls on a Friday this year so that probably takes the holiday weekend out of contention for estate sales. But possibly someone may have a house closing and need to do their sale that weekend.

I am not looking forward to the 3-day drive but it feels like it has been so long since we have been back to Mount Prospect. So much has happened since we left last fall, I never could have imagined what we were in store for. It is definitely going to be a strange feeling to be there knowing I have no family there anymore and my dear childhood friends no longer live in Illinois. Kuochun on the other hand cannot wait to get some "real" Chinese food at MingHin Cuisine in Rolling Meadows.
See you next time!
