This beautiful vintage piece by the talented Navajo silversmith Mike Thomas Jr. is a striking example of bold Southwestern artistry and imaginative craftsmanship. Originally created as a belt buckle and later transformed into a pendant through the addition of a shepherd’s hook, the piece retains all of the dramatic presence and detail of its original form. Flowing repoussé leaves, swirling curly ques, and sculptural raindrops fill the surface, framed by a fine twist wire border and heavy sawcut edging that adds depth and dimension throughout. Three brilliant blue turquoise cabochons and a vivid piece of branch coral are individually bezel set with fine tooth edges, while two of the turquoise stones and the coral are artfully nestled around a claw centerpiece that gives the design a wonderfully organic feel.
